Don't Look Back

Don't Look Back - Jennifer L. Armentrout Rating: To Come

So I first started this book on a road trip to OH about a month ago, I can't read in a moving car so audiobooks are my saving grace for passing the time. I got a good ways into the book and was thoroughly interested and sucked into the book. So I started listening to it again last night. I don't remember why I stopped listening in the first place, I'm not going to stop until it's done. This is an extremely fast paced thriller. The story starts out with the main character, Samantha, not remembering a thing. She doesn't remember who her parents are, who her friends are and what made her disappear in the first place. She doesn't even remember how mean and bitchy she was. So she comes back a changed girl, her bitchiness is replaced by a character trait that is more gentle. All in all, so far a very engaging story thus far! I'll look forward to listening to more!

I am so glad that I FINALLY broke down and bought this series. All this time I thought that it wouldn't be for me but I was WRONG, wayyyy wrong!! So far this book is amazing and by far exceeds my expectations of this book. I am so looking forward to reading the rest of the series and watching the movies too.

Fahrenheit 451

Fahrenheit 451 - Ray Bradbury Rating: 2.5 Stars

Please note, I had to read this for school. This is NOT a book I would normally read on my own time. I felt this book was rather complicated all throughout the story. The whole concept of book banning was very foreign to me. I guess I have a small mind because I have no idea why this book is so popular. Honestly I read this book in the 10 grade, and I don't quite remember all the details surrounding this book except that Guy Montag, who's job is to burn books is instead stealing them and hiding them in his home from his wife and the rest of the world, that is until he gets caught.

Don't get me wrong, it's probably a good book, just not my type.

Millie Marotta's Animal Kingdom

Millie Marotta's Animal Kingdom - Millie Marotta Rating: 5 Stars

I know this isn't a book you would read but it is on Goodreads so it deserves a review. This book is everything I want in an adult coloring book. I'm not much into coloring, but I thought I'd jump on the band wagon and try it out. When it comes to coloring I enjoy very detailed images, the more detailed the better. This book is hands down the best! Millie Marotta is a extremely talented artist! I'll look forward to coloring more of her images soon.

P.S. In case you are wondering, I use colored pencils and gel pens to color my images. Markers bleed through to the image on the other side. I would not recommend using any kind of marker.

Charlotte's Web

Charlotte's Web - E.B. White, Garth Williams, Rosemary Wells Rating: 5 Stars

I loved this book when I was a little girl and still do, even at 19 years old. I don't know why, but there is just something about it that reading it made me feel so happy. I think it was the unusual and sweet friendship between a lonely piglet, Wilbur, and the compassionate spider, Charlotte. It is such a heartwarming story. Every person, young or old, should read this story because it has so much to offer and a great lesson to be learned. Definitely be sure to keep a tissue or two handy, trust me you're going to need it.

April 17, 2017 UPDATE!

Rating: 5 Stars

This book was AMAZING! I loved every part of this book. The "scary" parts were perfect just the right amount to make you shiver for the characters. I really enjoyed how each of their nightmares were their demise, either you survive your nightmare or die trying. Brilliantly written, I loved how the author wrote in 5 different povs. That must be really hard to do but she succeed flawlessly. Lastly, the ending was to die for, literally! It made you want more, and was the ultimate cliffhanger!

A must read for horror fans like me that don't like to read too much gore but still there is enough gore to be satisfyingly scary and thrilling!

Wanderlost

Wanderlost - Jen Malone Rating: 4 Stars

I really liked this book. The plot, most of the characters, and the setting were very well written. It really made me feel as though I wanted to be in Aubree's place. I, personally, have always dreamed of doing a grand tour of Europe. I hope someday I get that chance.

What gives this book 4 stars?
1.) I loved the plot, however it was somewhat slow in hooking me. I found that I would read part of it and then read something else because it didn't grab me in the very beginning. I also thought that Aubree was very immature in the beginning, wining about having to take her sister's place. In my opinion, she should have been thrilled, given the circumstance surrounding her opportunity, to go to Europe period.
2.) I loved the setting. I thought the author did a good job of describing each place. Her descriptions really made me feel as though I was there.
3.) I loved all the characters. I especially loved the seniors, I adored all their quirks and personalities. Sam, was the total dream boy, perfect in every possible way. If only boys in reality could be like fictional Sam. Aubrey, was very annoying in the beginning, but towards the middle and end of the story, I actually really liked her and how she was being more mature.

All in all, a good read. I liked it!
I have got to get my hands on this book!! It sound crazy scary and amazing!!

Black Coffee

Black Coffee - Agatha Christie, Charles Osborne Rating: 4 Stars

This book is amazing! I know that it is technically not written by Agatha Christie herself but Mr. Osborne does an amazing job capturing the original Hercule Poirot we Christie fan have come to love. The story was well written and flowed very well. If I didn't know better, I'd say Ms. Christie wrote this herself. It is so nice to know that authors were so inspired by her work that they continue to write in her name and carry on her beloved characters!

Hallowe'en Party

Hallowe'en Party - Agatha Christie Rating: 5 Stars

This book has been an annual read for me around Halloween for the past 4 years. I love this book! The story never gets old. When I first read it, the ending was a complete shocker...totally unexpected! Even though I've read this book many times one know what to expect, I still very much enjoy it and is the perfect read for staying in on a cold Halloween night!

The movie is also very good, no discrepancies that I could pick-up (I am very good at keying in on differences from the book when I watch a movie).

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd

The Murder of Roger Ackroyd - Agatha Christie Rating: 5 Stars

This was my first Hercule Poirot novel I read when I first got into Agatha Christie, 5 years ago. Actually it was my mom who recommended it to me. Anyway...I loved this book and I totally fell in love with Mr. Poirot's style for detecting.

"Always trust the little gray cells!"

The ending was incredible. [SPOILER: Dr. Shepherd was so deceiving through out the whole book but he was no match for the notorious detective, Hercule Poirot!]

Midnight at the Electric

Midnight at the Electric - Jodi Lynn Anderson Rating: To Come

*I would like to express my many thanks to HarperCollins Publishing and YA Centeral for providing this book as a giveaway, which I am grateful and surprised to have won. This in no way affects my review.*

I am so excited to read this book. I have been wanting this book so much and I was thrilled when it was a surprise in the mail. I love books that are told in may different points of view. However, this one is wayyy more interesting because, not only is it told in 3 different points of view, but it is told by women from 3 different time periods. An author that is able to write such a complex book, have all the story lines flow so beautifully and all in under 300 pages must have some amazing talent. All the more reason why I am excited to start this book very soon.
